Gomeroi Culture Academy

The Gomeroi Culture Academy (GCA) is a culturally focused leadership experience supporting young people living in Tamworth NSW.

Cultural mentorship, On-Country learning and regular gatherings create an immersive learning environment in which young people strengthen cultural knowledge and identity while studying the cultural practices they are most interested in. Our cultural immersion approach enables young people to truly understand their identity, connect with the world around them and in doing so, find a pathway to value their full potential and thrive in both traditional and a contemporary worlds.

By the end of the program, each GCA graduate will:

  • Develop the skills, confidence and self-awareness needed to make decisions that will positively impact on their lives and the lives of people around them,

  • Strengthen their personal and cultural identity,

  • Better understand a variety of cultural skills, practices and techniques, and

  • Connect with a network of like-minded and passionate young people.

The GCA is designed and delivered in partnership with the Gomeroi Dance Company and Yinarr Maramali and is funded by National Indigenous Australians Agency (NIAA).
